About Tez
My interest in ceramics began at a very early age. I remember running through giant kiln rooms at a pottery factory in Stoke-on-Trent to greet my grandmother after a day's work. I suppose you could say it's in my blood.
I graduated from Wolverhampton University in 2003 with a BA (Hons) in Ceramics and Sculpture. My work at university focused on the body weaving landscape forms into both ceramic representations and audio-visual media.
I've recently swapped the rolling Welsh Valleys for the beautiful Devon coast. My new studio is based at
Cockington Court near Torquay, and includes a shop front so you can buy directly from me all year round
as well as from my Etsy store.
I draw huge inspiration from natural forms and landscapes. The sea and waves surrounding me provoke my creativity which is expressed in the shapes and textures of my work My pieces echo the fluidity and cycles found within nature; my glazes reflect the rusty reds and vibrant greens and blues around me.
My work invites nature into your home.
Stoneware is my preferred firing method for studio work; the fluid movement of the glaze
fits the form of my pieces perfectly.
Raku firing is a source of inspiration in itself. The unpredictable fire and resulting range of finishes on the pieces often feels like alchemy at play and works perfectly in workshop settings.
Come and visit me at my studio in Cockington Court and follow me on Facebook or Instagram
to keep up-to-date with my work and products and purchase unique pieces for your home and garden.
I'm also available for events and workshops so please don't hesitate to send me an email
or text/Whatsapp me on 07739 422 203.
